The Same Story of Hope  Ink and acrylic on paper March 2011  I have a thing for making things in series or in groups. Sometimes, I pretend that I’m painting for an exhibit or a collection so I have this overarching theme/concept, and I keep working on that idea until I think I’ve said enough for the time being. Perhaps it’s my filmy side, the part of me that loves that stories are told when things are put in a certain order. Perhaps it’s actually my persistence, my need to exhaust something for its meaning.  There are five parts to this one. The first four varies the slightest bit from each other. It’s similar to the first image. The primary difference in the last image, the second image shown here is the use of the Japanese Zero, which I have been fixated on for months now. It is my favorite World War II plane ever. Note: This is not the kamikaze plane.
