After Art in the Park

Posted on Sunday, 20 February

I was invited to join TutoK for Art in the Park last Saturday, and the experience was quite enjoyable, but I kind of regret not buying more stuff. It sucks to be poor.

Friends, Mika, Czar, Bea, Maria, Ina as well as my boyfriend, Alfie, visited, which made my day less stressful and more enjoyable since being cooped up in the house for weeks has made me starved for good conversation and a different kind of craziness.

Here’s my room after weeks of doodling:

my messy room

That’s half-way through cleaning, by the way.

Two of my small paintings also found really good homes during the event. I mean really good. That’s a pretty nice validation for my wanting to explore the art world. True my market value is still not up there, but I’m still quite young and I still haven’t done a lot of things. I feel a bit giddy.

I’m looking forward to making illustrations with graphite and acrylic after this. I think I finally learned how to maximize the combination during the week, but producing something in the medium was too late for the fair.

Dark Clouds Project

Posted on Tuesday, 23 November

Hello, I am revisiting my Dark Clouds Project, something I started as an experiment last July or August. I’ve been setting it aside first because the weather has been horrible (too hot), and lately, I was turned off by the whole idea because someone started doing something similar, and it sort of made me sad. Anyway, that just means it’s definitely hard to have a monopoly of something.

I have started a new batch of these ink works, bigger works like I promised myself months ago. After this, I’m moving on to a different set of artworks which I might not post in its entirety because I am also thinking twice about the internet as a space for fledging artists to showcase the little talent and the occasional brilliance they have and yet to master.

Now, I invite you to participate in this project! What kind of shape or scene can you form with this dark cloud?

I thought this looks like a crevasse with massive amounts of water gushing in it.

Dark Clouds

July 26, 2010

I swore I was working on something last week, and this is it. It’s not perfect yet, but I’m pretty happy with how the process and look sort of fall into place along with my inability to concentrate, my drawing process (even if I couldn’t think, I was able to draw something), the concept of the work itself and the weather.

I am also happy that I finally got to use the Japanese ink Czarina bought me! Thanks, Czar!

I am looking forward to developing this idea further. :3 Again, I am hoping to write about this with more details in Pinup/Pin Down perhaps during the weekend.
